Updating to WordPress 4.1.1

WordPress-Logo

Today when I went to update my WordPress for this site to 4.1.1 I ran into a problem – nothing would happen. The update screen would go blank and absolutely nothing would happen. I searched around for a bit and found that I was not the only one to have this problem. Luckily I was also to find a solution that allowed the update to happen.

Add (and edit) these lines to your wp-config.php:

Add them just before /* That’s all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */. Delete those 3 lines out of your wp-config.php once the update is finished if you don’t want them in there. Hopefully that will help anyone having problems updating to WordPress 4.1.1.

It’s also good to note that there is a ticket in the WordPress system so they are looking at the issue and it will most likely be fixed. I’ve also noticed that sites that automatically update won’t have any difficulty updating (the few sites that automatically update that I manage at work have updated with no problems). I’ll try to post an update once the issue is solved.

UPDATE

It appears the update is now working – although the WordPress Update screen will display a duplicate update offering on the update screen. If you want to track more progress on this bug you can view the official ticket here: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/31378#notifications.
